Definition:
A group of citizens who decide whether the prosecutor has enough evidence to pursue felony (and perhaps also misdemeanor) charges against a person.
Summons
Definition:
An appearance ticket requiring a defendant to appear before the court for arraignment on an underlying accusatory instrument
Docket number
Definition:
A nine character court reference number which identifies a criminal court case. The first two digits indicate the year in which the case was filed.
